Orphan pagesWe provide a site-checker tool. This tool performs two functions.
Rankvision uses only Google when querying things about your site and how it is being shown in the search engines. When you add a site to Rankvision, by simply entering its URL you get the option to choose which Google you wish us to look at. As you know, Google searches can be country specific and if you specify www.google.co.uk you wish to see how people in the United Kingdom are seeing your results, whereas if you specified www.google.de you would be more concerned with what German users are seeing.
The Site Checker tool queries whichever Google you have specified and displays a list of all pages of your site that Google is currently showing in its search results (or main index).
Of course, it is worth noting that Google may be aware of more of your pages and content than it is actually displaying in its index.
The Site Checker tool displays something else that is equally useful. Of those pages that Google has in its index, the tool looks at each page and checks to see if there are ANY internal links from any other page on your site to that page. It then displays a list of pages that have no internal links.
This is important because every page should be linked to your main site. This means that this tool often finds pages that have either be set up incorrectly (e.g. have not been put in the sitemap) or have had something go wrong. Maybe you have replaced the page with something else, pointed the internal links to the other page, but have forgotten to take the original page offline.
