Due to our effort to optimize our database structure and the scripts which are interacting with the counter part of RankVsion, we have managed to reduce the query time in our databases to 0.12 seconds. This way using our counter will not slow down your website.
Thursday, October 28, 2010 - Update to the RankVision Traffic Gatekeeper
We have changed the way our Traffic Gatekeeper works. It is a little bit slower in the control panel when adding countries to the "red list" (the list of countries where you don't want to allow visitors to come from). It might take up to 26s to block UK visitors, but hey who wants to block them anyway? :) For smaller countries (the ones which you are more likely to block) the process is so much faster. The good part of it is that now it is working incredibly fast the online part, so you can add out script to your pages with confidence that your loading speed will not be decreased by it, and visitors from the selected countries will be blocked instantly (in a matter of a few miliseconds).
